Project Description
Among the various maintenance works of the Kandilli Observatory of Bogazici University, observation tower of meteorology had also took special care.
Upon our observation, the upper part of the tower had been identified as reinforced concrete on top of steel pipes, which rusted and lost strength. The steel columns was unable carry the concrete part and a collapse was highly probable any minute. This part was taken away by cutting and new steel construction had been applied in place. During this work, observation function of the observatory had not been interrupted.
